I've been after a Spiro fitting for a while but I won't pay the silly price they want.

However when I was at the 505 Nats a few guys were raving about a new and improved fitting from South Africa.
The Spinno costs aroun 90 euro.

The blurb is as follows,

The new improved SPINNO© is now available locally in Left Hand and Right Hand configuration.
Developed in South Africa and used internationally for high performance racing dinghies such as the 505, FD, Fireball or keelboats like the Flying Fifteen.
The SPINNO© is machined out of solid grade 6018 T aluminium and hard anodised in “Natural” or “Black”.
It incorporates various innovative features such as strengthened attachment lugs, precision machined acetyl roller, sealed deep groove roller ball bearings in high chromium steel for high radial and axial loads, and 304 stainless steel bolts.
The SPINNO© is supplied complete with a matching pole-end ball machined from high impact resistant acetyl material, to fit the standard Proctor spinnaker pole internal dimensions.

Sounds good Mike. I had a quick look around google but couldn't find it in this country. If you learn more I'd be interested to hear and upgrade Oystercatcher for that sort of money.

I've just ordered one direct from South Africa although not for a Javelin I might add but a Sandhopper (triple keel version of the Squib). I will happily let you know how I get on and what it is like. It cost 115 euros delivered.

Hello again.

Still looking to tidy up pole launching. Happened to be looking on Trident site and found this http://shop.trident-uk.com/sailing/product-Auto_Pole_Launcher_Assembly-SN508_479_01.html looks like less than two thirds money of a Spiro. They are only 40 miles down the road from me now; if they carry them as a stock item, next time I'm in Newcastle I'll check it out, see if it is a handed fitting.

PS Boat is looking good, a spring tidy, some foil doctoring lost several redundant fittings, cut off a few bolt ends that have been stabbing me for 4 years (-; , moved a couple for better handling and spanking new tapered spin sheets arrived today.
